FAQ
Installation and Setup
Q: What is the minimum PC configuration I need to run eBridge?
A:
- Windows PC running XP, Vista or Windows 7 (not Windows 95, 98, NT or 2000)
- Pentium 4, 1 GHz or Higher
- 1GB memory (Scan PC)
- Dedicated Internet connection
- Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher
- TWAIN-compliant scanner (scanners ship with USB 2.0 cables; PC must have USB 2.0
to connect via USB)
- Recommended minimum 17” monitor
- Microsoft .Net Framework v2.0 or higher
Q: How are my files stored on eBridge?
A: eBridge converts paper documents to digital, searchable PDF images with
OCR, which are then indexed by up to 7 unique values (e.g., name, date of birth, customer
ID, date, etc.). These files are then stored in a customer-controlled eBridge cabinet.
The files in this cabinet are fully encrypted and further protected by user account
controls, document type controls and a full audit trail of all access and activity.
Files from PC applications or photos can also be stored in your secure cabinet using
the same set of customer-unique index values for easy retrieval.
Q: What type of Internet connection or provider do I need to use eBridge?
A: While you can access eBridge over any Internet connection, a business-class broadband
connection is recommended for optimal use.
Q: What scanners do you support?
A: eBridge has tested and certified scanners from Canon, Fujitsu and Kodak. However,
most business-class TWAIN-compliant scanners will allow you to work with eBridge’s
one-step scan function, and we would be more than happy to test your device at your
convenience.
Q: Will eBridge work with my multi-function printer/scanner/fax device?
A: For maximum quality, we recommend using a tested and certified scanner from our
technology partners at Canon, Fujitsu or Kodak. However, many of our clients
successfully use a multifunction printer/scanner/fax device, and we would be more
than happy to test your device for compatibility with your eBridge account, at your
convenience.
Q: What is the eBridge Print Driver, and is it required?
A: The Print Driver is a utility that allows you to easily capture the documents
and reports of PC applications (Word, Excel, QuickBooks, etc.) and save them directly
into the eBridge cabinet. This utility allows users to bypass the step of printing
to paper and having to scan that document back in. The eBridge Print Driver Utility
installs like any other printer driver and appears as printer option that you simply
select when you are ready to capture a document into your eBridge cabinet. The Print
Driver is an optional utility, but costs only $295 per account for as long as you
use eBridge.
Q: I have been using another document management application - can eBridge
convert my existing documents/images?
A: Yes, for an additional fee, eBridge can convert your existing images into your
eBridge cabinet. Contact an eBridge support tech at 877.676.6067 for
more details.
Q: Can I install eBridge on my own servers?
A: No; eBridge was designed from scratch to be a 100% “in the cloud”
hosted application. By not investing in servers, software and IT staff, eBridge
customers enjoy enterprise-class infrastructure and availability without the cost
or effort.
Q: Do I need admin rights on my PC to use eBridge?
A: You will only need administrator rights on your PC to install the Print Driver
utility or other scanner drivers; all other components will operate fine in standard
user mode.
Usage
Q: What file formats does eBridge support?
A: eBridge supports both TIFF and PDF for files that are scanned or “printed”
into the cabinet. eBridge maintains the native format of PC application files (.doc,
.xls. .ppt, etc.).
Q: Can I route documents to a co-worker?
A: Yes - using one or more of the 7 index values as status fields, users can route
or queue documents for coworkers, manager approval or any other status indicator
that will streamline the workflow in your office.
Q: How do I check the status of a particular document or batch of documents?
A: You can track status using the unique index values. The eBridge reporting tools
also provide useful information for tracking user and document activity. These reports
are sortable by any field in the cabinet database.
Security
Q: How secure is my data?
A: Privacy and data integrity are the cornerstones of our hosted applications. All
of your data is encrypted from the source (your PC) all the way to its destination
(eBridge’s redundant data centers). Using strong encryption methods and very
granular access controls, eBridge protects your information from unintended and
malicious misuse.
Q: Who has access to my data?
A: Only your authorized users may login and retrieve documents from your eBridge
cabinet. Users can be further restricted by document type and by the actions they
can perform on a document (scan, view, import, delete, etc.).
